This Downtown Tacoma family session was rescheduled SO many times because of bad weather, but we decided to just go for it on a drizzly Monday. You never know how Seattle weather is going to be! I’m so grateful for families like this who are easy going and willing to take risks with me. It definitely paid off because it doesn’t even look like it was cold and rainy the whole time, ha! They’re just that good at modeling I guess 😉 I don’t do a ton of sessions like this in more urban settings, but I have to say that I was loving it. The fall leaves scattered all over the steps was so picturesque, and made for a fun moment with everyone throwing the leaves!

When I got home I had a nice email from the family saying that the kids had so much fun, and that made my day. Everyone knows that taking family pictures isn’t most kid’s idea of a good time. So having fun is one of my goals during each family session! The more excited and happy everyone is, the more genuine their smiles will be. It also helps to pull people out of their shells and gives me the opportunity to capture some meaningful moments. Some of my favorite shots are of kids who excitedly hug their Mom, or are laughing with Dad. So if you’ve booked a session with me, prepare your kids for some fun! You can even have them think of some fun games they want to play. I didn’t prompt the kiddos from this session to start playing ring around the rosies, they did that all on their own. And look how cute it was!
