This gorgeous light and airy Seattle Lifestyle Newborn Photography is pretty much what dreams are made of. Little William and his parents were some of the most lovely people with a gorgeous (and perfect for a photo session) home. We chatted in between taking photos and I was able to learn a bit more about their family. Near the end of the post in one of the photos of the nursery is a book titled Cornelius that I had never heard of. William’s Mama told me that her Dad is named Cornelius so when they found that book they knew they needed it so they could read it to their little one. How sweet is that? I definitely encourage all of my clients to incorporate meaningful items like that into their session!

I’ve had a few emails lately from people who are interested in Seattle Lifestyle Newborn Photography, but they’re worried that their homes are too dark. There is definitely such thing as too dark when it comes to my light and airy style so I always appreciate when they bring that up. I will always suggest that you send me photos of the rooms in your home you’d like photos taken in (nursery, master bedroom, living areas) when they’re at their brightest. Obviously every house is different with small or large windows, windows facing different directions, trees blocking light from coming through the window, etc. Doing this also helps us decide what is the best time to take photos, since you’ll be more aware of the time that it is brightest inside your home. So if you’re worried about that please don’t hesitate to ask! I do have flash equipment that I bring to every session. Rarely is it dark enough to need it, but I’m sure it helps give both of us some peace of mind! I also want to mention that decor style and clothing can really help with this. If it’s dark in your home and you’re wearing all black, you’re going to blend into the photo and it’s definitely going to make the overall image look even darker. Decor isn’t quite as easy to change so I’ve learned to get a bit creative. If you have a black headboard in your bedroom and a navy blue comforter, all we would need to do is switch out the comforter for something lighter! I actually have a comforter I bring upon request for clients to use during their session if their bedroom doesn’t get great light. Please don’t hesitate to email me if you’re wanting light and airy photos but are afraid your home is too dark.
